Reserach and Working EQ

1.Working EQ: What is the best way to run both aspects of being a pharmacist, patient care and business?

2. EQ answer:

  • The best way for a Pharmacist to handle the patient care aspect of his job, is too make sure that each patient understands and comprehends the prescription drug they are taking. The more they know, the better off they will be.
  • Building a friendly relationship with patients not only adds to patient care, but as a retail pharmacy owner, keeps them coming back and providing income.
  • To better the financial structure of a retail pharmacy, each drug sold should show have a equal return on how much the pharmacist pays to obtain the drug and gets compensated for it by insurance companies and the patients.
  • Making sure that all permits and licenses are current and updated to sell prescription drugs.
3. The best source that I have other then my mentor, would be the  ASHP( American Society of health system pharmacists). This is probably my most credible source because of how distinguished it is and how many peer reviewed articles they have.

4.  My mentor is Timmothy Wong, Retail pharmacist, and I am volunteering at his pharmacy. What I do at the pharmacy and observe is what helps me to answer my EQ the best. There I am able to see what proper patient care and instuction  are, and also how to manage selling drugs so that there is income when dealing with insurance companies and patients.

Blog 7: Independent Compontent 1 Approval

1. I plan to do my 30 hours at the pharmacy of my mentor. I am going to do additional mentorship hours for my Independant component. I plan on shadowing my mentor, who is an expert pharmacist in his field, and will see all aspects of what is actually is to be a pharmacist. I will also be allowed to handle patient care( talking to them and heling them understand their prescriptions), under my mentors supervision. Also to see the advanced system he has on running the business of his, which is a retail pharmacy.

2.  To show evidence of my mentorship and hours, I will update my mentorship log and provide pictures.

3. I'm planning on going more in depth in what a pharmacist must actually think about when handling controlled drugs and how he sells prescriptions based off of how much revenue he will intake from sells that mostly depend on insurance companies.
